Category Environmental Services Description
Job Summary
The EVS is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the Club. This position performs routine cleaning and maintenance of member areas, offices, locker rooms, dining spaces, and other Club facilities while ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of all Club facilities, including dining areas, offices, locker rooms, fitness areas, pool facilities, restrooms, golf course restrooms, and revenue outlet locations
- Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, buff, shampoo carpets, and perform other floor care to ensure Club facilities meet the highest standards
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, showers, locker rooms, changing rooms, and bath areas; restock restroom supplies as needed
- Clean and polish glass, windows, mirrors, brass, tables, counters, shelves, furniture, office equipment, door handles, and other surfaces
- Empty trash receptacles, transport trash to dumpsters, and properly handle recyclable materials
- Sweep patios and entrances, dust outdoor furniture, and maintain the exterior appearance of walkways, steps, patios, entrances, and HVAC vents, including snow removal when necessary
- Conduct deep-cleaning projects and spot cleaning throughout the clubhouse as assigned
- Inspect Club facilities and report maintenance issues, including damaged equipment, plumbing concerns, burned-out light bulbs, and other repair needs; submit work orders as required
- Lock and unlock assigned buildings, secure facilities after hours, ensure lights are turned off, and check that doors and windows are properly secured
- Assist with inventory control, supply organization, and the safe handling of Club equipment
- Move furniture, equipment, tables, chairs, supplies, and tools to support daily operations and special events
- Transport linens to and from laundry or linen rooms
- Fold, organize, and stock clean towels and linens to ensure member areas remain fully supplied
- Clean employee areas, including restrooms, stairwells, elevators, light fixtures, walls, cigarette receptacles, and other common spaces
- Dust and clean fitness equipment to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for members
- Attend departmental meetings and required safety training
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Environmental Services or management
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- One (1) year of custodial, housekeeping, janitorial, or related cleaning experience preferred
- Critical Skills (Soft Skills, Technical, Specific Knowledge)
- Ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and attention to detail in a member-focused environment
- Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning products according to established procedures
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to providing exceptional service to members, guests, and fellow employees
Schedule Requirements
- Flexible scheduling based on the operational needs of the Club
- While this role offers flexibility, availability on weekends and holidays is expected on a rotating basis to support Club operations
Training
- This role includes hands-on shadowing and mentorship with the Director of Environmental Services to ensure success and skill development
Travel Required
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work, including prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing
- Ability to safely use ladders and other equipment required to perform custodial duties
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and handle cleaning chemicals in accordance with established safety procedures
- Position may involve exposure to human blood or other potentially infectious materials; compliance with OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens standards and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required
