Job Description

Summary

The primary responsibility of Exam Proctors is to administer exams for students registered with the Disability Center, ensuring academic integrity while providing the accommodations approved by the student's Access Advisor or Coordinator.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure the testing environment is suitable and conducive for examinees to concentrate at specific locations on campus.
  • Pickup and delivery of exams.
  • Responsible for reporting abnormal activity to the Exam Coordinator.
  • On occasion, the exam proctor may act as a scribe, responsible for writing on behalf of the student.
  • On occasion, the exam proctor may read aloud to the student.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain academic integrity.
  • Present a positive, professional image to the campus community on behalf of the Disability Center.
  • As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities is expected in order to serve the customer and maintain the Student Affairs mission.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$15.25 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis

Shift

Average number of hours per week: 10-15

Hours may vary week to week depending on the needs of the department. Shifts start as early as 7 a.m. and end as late as 9 p.m.

This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

To be eligible for a student title, an individual must be enrolled at the University of Missouri. Enrollment in the summer session is not required if the student was enrolled in the Spring semester and is pre-enrolled for the Fall semester. Selection is contingent upon results of a review with the Office of Institutional Equity, Office of Student Accountability & Support, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, previous MU appointment history, and reference checks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Flexibility to work an irregular schedule. Hours may vary week to week depending on the needs of the department. Shifts start as early as 7 a.m. and end as late as 9 p.m.
  • Good organizational skills and punctuality.
  • Effective communication skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
