Reporting to the EXCEL Lab Assistant Director, the Program Coordinator will provide day-to-day administrative and career services support to SMTD students, and support the development and delivery of EXCEL Lab co-curricular programming in line with the Lab's strategic priorities.
The role provides essential administrative support for EXCEL Lab and Dept. of Entrepreneurship & Leadership activities, including processing financial transactions, coordinating hospitality for on-campus events, monitoring our office-wide scheduling system, annual review and reporting processes for EXCEL programs, and generally serving as a front-of-office contact for walk-ins. This role also supports the Assistant Director in executing funding programs and an array of collaborative, co-curricular programming activities (workshops, training sessions, immersions, etc.) that enhance SMTD students' professional development. The Program Coordinator will manage EXCEL Lab communications and marketing activities, including our weekly newsletter, maintaining an online professional opportunity repository, coordinate our social media activity, and manage our blog, the EXCEL Log. The Program Coordinator will supervise one to three part-time student staff members.
This position will also contribute to career services support, including the potential for taking on career coaching and workshop delivery. As availability allows, they will have the opportunity to represent EXCEL across campus, across the arts, career services and entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems. Other duties will be explored depending on the individual's interest as well as the developing needs of the program.
Responsibilities*
General administrative support (70%)
Manage our office-wide scheduling system via Google calendar and Calendly, and generally serve as a front-of-office contact for walk-ins
Oversee and manage the processing of financial transactions, including management of guest artist/lecturer payments for Dept. of E&L guests, communicate as needed with SMTD finance and individuals to facilitate payment and track internal budget
Co-curricular event management
Collect, manage and forward inquiries for EXCEL workshops and co-sponsored events to Asst. Dir.; provide logistical support and deliver workshops as needed
Manage and support larger-scale event planning under the direction of the Asst. Director, which may include immersions to cultural centers and special projects
Manage and support event logistics and hospitality, including catering orders, room reservations, staffing needs, etc.
Program evaluation
Support the Asst. Dir. in program assessment and reporting, including individual program feedback and annual reviews and database updates
Funding
Support Asst. Dir. in coordinating funding committee logistics and communications, attend review meetings and compile minutes
Process student awards and provide feedback to students; serve as a point of contact for further feedback as needed
Represent the EXCEL Lab within the University community and to our external collaborators (e.g. on cross-campus and external committees, as bandwidth allows)

This is a hybrid position. Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. This position will primarily work from the Earl V. Moore Building, with additional work occurring across UM SMTD's buildings on the University of Michigan North and Central Campuses. Some activities will be events and workshops that occur in the evening. This position is primarily in-person, with one day remote per week, schedule to be determined with Asst. Director.
