Description of Service Opportunity

The Excel Tutoring program launched during the 2023-2024 school year to provide additional afterschool academic support to students who need it most. Now entering its third year, the Excel Tutoring program supports hundreds of students across our elementary and upper schools.

The Excel Tutoring program is an in-person afterschool high-impact tutoring program in the Cambridge Public Schools. Excel Tutoring uses intensive relationship-based and personalized instruction to accelerate learning for students who are performing two or more grade levels below expectations.

We offer two 10-week sessions throughout the school year. Lead Tutors can work one or two sessions. Lead Tutors support educators at sites with high tutoring support needs. They will review data with tutors to help monitor student progress, co-design intervention plans for students, and support caregiver communication. Lead Tutors set the tone at the tutoring site and help to facilitate school-based professional learning for tutors.
