Senior Structural Project Engineer

A respected engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Structural Project Engineer to join its growing team in the Greater Chicago market.

This is an opportunity for a senior-level structural engineer to lead complex projects, provide technical expertise, work directly with clients, and mentor developing engineers.

What You’ll Do

• Lead structural projects from design through construction administration.
• Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Provide technical guidance to project teams.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
• Serve as a key client contact and strengthen relationships.
• Support project pursuits, proposals, and business development efforts.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• PE license required; SE preferred.
• 7+ years of structural engineering design experience.
• Experience preparing construction documents and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of:
  • Structural analysis and design
  • Seismic design principles
  • Lateral systems (braced frames, moment frames, shear walls)
• Experience with:
  • ETABS
  • RISA
  • RAM
  • Enercalc
  • Revit
  • Microsoft Office
• Strong communication, organization, and project management skills.
• Experience leading projects or mentoring engineers preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $120,000–$160,000 (based on experience, skills, and qualifications)
