About the Position

As the Executive Affairs Manager, you will play a key role in advancing the agencys executive initiatives and communications. Serving as the primary liaison between the Executive Director, the State Personnel Board, and the MSPB executive team, you will independently coordinate all aspects of board operations, ensuring meetings, materials, and communications are executed professionally and efficiently. This position exercises a high degree of discretion and confidentiality while supporting executive leadership and coordinating communications with board members, legislators, and other stakeholders. Reporting to the Communications Director, you will also contribute to agency-wide communications initiatives by assisting with strategic campaigns, events, executive engagements, and other special projects that promote the agencys mission and strengthen stakeholder relationships. The role requires independent decision-making, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. What Youll Do: • Serve as the primary liaison to board members and legislative advisors and coordinate all board meeting logistics, agendas, materials, minutes, and follow-up actions. • Maintain board records and related documentation while ensuring board activities are conducted in accordance with agency policies and applicable regulations. • Manage executive-level communications and correspondence. • Assist the Communications Director in planning and executing agency events, recognition programs, and outreach initiatives. • Support the development and implementation of strategic communications campaigns across multiple platforms. • Draft, edit, and review executive communications and other agency publications. • Provide administrative and communications support for executive initiatives. • Ensure communications and materials reflect agency branding, professionalism, and consistency.

The ideal candidate is an organized and proactive professional with exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Success in this role requires the ability to build relationships with executive stakeholders, manage complex projects simultaneously, maintain strict confidentiality, and pay close attention to detail. Experience coordinating high-profile meetings and events, along with strong organizational, editing, and project management skills, is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with graphic design and digital communications tools are preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

This position typically requires a bachelor's degree in communication, business administration, political science, or a related field and 1 to 2 years of professional-level experience in communications or executive support.
