This position provides executive support for the Vice President and Comptroller of Southern Company Services and Southern Nuclear, and administrative support to its organizational team.



The Executive Assistant position requires someone to have experience in the administrative field supporting an officer in a corporate environment. This position requires the candidate to have exceptional organizational and decision-making skills, be detailed focused, a self-starter with the ability and desire to work through changing priorities with minimal supervision. The successful candidate should have a thorough working knowledge of relevant computer applications and administrative best practices.



This position works in close contact with executive offices across the Southern Company footprint to manage calendar and travel arrangements.



This position views and hears significant amounts of confidential information and must be able to maintain that confidentiality.



This position is based at the Energy Center in Birmingham, Alabama. The position is considered hybrid with in-office expectations that average 4 days per week.



JOB REQUIREMENTS



Education/Experience




+ High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred

+ Corporate Executive Assistant experience preferred

+ 5+ years or more of experience providing administrative support at the executive and/or senior director level preferred.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:




+ Experience managing confidential information

+ Experience with timekeeping, expense reporting, arranging travel, and coordinating meetings

+ Ability to navigate computer applications to obtain records (e.g., timecards, purchase orders, vendor invoices, employee expense statements, etc.) and compile/assemble documentation packages/files

+ Experience managing an executive-level calendar and incoming inquiries with minimal direction

+ Ability to coordinate and perform the organization’s document retention activities in accordance with Company policies and requirements

+ Demonstrated experience taking initiative and being a self-starter in day-to-day responsibilities

+ Ability to professionally represent the office of the Vice President & Comptroller, including professional interactions with other executives, managers, peers, department employees, external organizations and vendors

+ Exceptional organizational skills with ability to prioritize, multi-task and proactively prepare for upcoming meetings and events

+ Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams)

+ Exceptional organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task

+ Ability to build and maintain relationships

+ Ability to make decisions and anticipate next steps

+ Candidate must possess exceptional communication skills, a strong attention to detail, maintain a sense of urgency, and be service oriented
