Partnering with business partners, department colleagues in other areas of specialization, and stakeholders throughout the enterprise, they shape programs, narratives and brand experiences, and oversee investments and performance outcomes. These leaders are expert and translating strategic framework and vision, driving collaboration, creativity, and innovation and sharing a passion for enabling others to do their best work. These leaders in their respective area of specialization nurture talent, strengthen the department's operating model, and build the relationships and capabilities that move the business forward.

Job Duties

• MASTERY OF SPECIALIZATION: sets the vision and roadmap for the discipline, balancing innovation with practicality; defines best practices and governance; selects platforms/partners; and funds capability growth; represents the function with executives and externally when needed; ensures cross discipline integration so the specialty accelerates business outcomes, not just outputs.
• CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION: shapes the operating model for how teams partner: intake, prioritization, SLAs, and governance; influences executives to align resources and resolve systemic conflicts; builds durable relationships and strategic partnerships that accelerate delivery and amplify impact across the organization.
• MESSAGE DEVELOPMENT AND STORYTELLING: defines enterprise level and business-level messaging strategy and narrative guardrails; ensures coherence across brands, geographies, and channels while allowing smart localization; makes final calls on strategic stories/themes and equips the enterprise with playbooks, examples, and training to sustain narrative quality.
• CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION: sets the creative vision and defines standards for excellence, originality, and brand safety; invests in the capabilities (talent, tooling, partnerships) that enable breakthrough ideas; creates a culture that rewards smart risk taking and continuous experimentation tied to outcomes.
• CHANNEL OPTIMIZATION: owns channel portfolio strategy: where to invest, what to pilot, and what to sunset; sets governance for data, privacy, accessibility, and quality; ensures channels work as a unified ecosystem aligned to business goals and customer experience, not as silos.
• FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP: supports budget planning; partners with business partners and colleagues to optimize spend, manage risk, and demonstrate fiscal responsibility.
• ROI AND IMPACT: sets the measurement framework tied to KPIs and ROI; tells a clear performance story to executives; uses insights to steer strategy and investment; champions an evidence based culture across the function.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Writing, Audio Video Production, Digital Marketing, Business, Project Management, or other related field of marketing and communications specialization.
• At least seven years of professional experience within a marketing communications department, advertising or communications agency, or related professional setting.
• Deep understanding of the structures, practice areas, and inner workings of a marketing department and/or advertising agency.
• Experience navigating (with or within) complex, matrixed organizational structure(s).
• Ability to use project management systems to track tasks, timelines, and workflows.
• Demonstrated advanced proficiency using specialized software applications used within applicable area of focus (e.g., social publishing platforms, design and editing, CMS, CRM, DAM systems).
• Understanding of relevant industry and trade regulations, as well as those pertinent to marketing and communications (e.g., truth in advertising, intellectual property rights and infringement, etc.).
• Direct experience with generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.) for content generation, research, or workflow automation, and experience enforcing policy and modeling best practices in their use.
• Strong familiarity with analytics tools and dashboards (channel analytics, web analytics, campaign reports).
• Demonstrated ease working in fluid settings, managing expectations, accepting and giving appropriate feedback, and pivoting when necessary.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise business sector(s) (e.g., health, higher education, insurance) strongly preferred.
• Strong aptitude for learning and working within new software applications.

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
