Founded in 2012 as a coalition composed of immigrant youth-led groups from San Diego to Sonoma County, California Immigrant Youth Justice Alliance (CIYJA) organizes to shut down detention centers and build up community power through holistic care, transforming communities, and cultivating leadership for liberation. CIYJA's mission is to create an intersectional space for system-impacted, undocumented, and refugee youth across California emphasizing on QTBIPOC and underserved communities. Since our founding, CIYJA has propelled over 500 immigrant youth into leadership, advanced bold campaigns for intersectional justice, and uplifted impacted families. Since its inception, CIYJA has provided opportunities for immigrant youth to become movement leaders. They successfully built infrastructures for organizing groups that advance immigrant rights, namely Health4All coalition, ICE out of California regional formations, and Dignity Not Detention Coalition.
Recognizing our unique and important role in shaping the immigrant rights movement in these uncertain times for immigrant communities, CIYJA seeks a values-aligned, collaborative, and strategic leader to serve as Executive Director. The ED will be a trusted advisor and thought partner who will help steward CIYJA's organizational strategy, culture, and impact. The ED will ensure CIYJA refines its vision, ensures our sustainability, and strengthens our commitment to our mission and our communities. The ED will play a central role in bringing cohesion across programs while providing support and nurturing CIYJA's team. The ED will lead on annual and strategic planning; communications strategy; resource development and stakeholder engagement, in partnership with the Associate Director.
