Summary
The Nursing and Midwifery Council's ability to protect the public depends on sound decisions about its priorities, its resources and its future. As our Executive Director of Finance, you will be central to those decisions, providing the financial leadership that enables us to fulfil our statutory responsibilities and deliver our ambitions. Joining the Executive Board as we modernise our organisation, you will help shape how we invest, how we work and how we build a fair, inclusive and effective NMC.
This is a broad executive role, leading Finance, Procurement, Estates, Performance and Risk, with oversight of organisational Planning. As our principal financial adviser, you will give the Chief Executive and Registrar, Council and executive colleagues clear advice on financial sustainability, investment and organisational performance. You will connect strategy with resources and delivery, bringing commercial discipline to major decisions and ensuring we understand both the benefits and risks of change. Alongside strengthening financial management and assurance, you will lead capable teams and help colleagues across the NMC take shared responsibility for performance, value for money and continuous improvement.
We are looking for an accomplished senior finance leader who combines strategic judgement with the ability to turn complex information into clear choices. You will bring experience of leading through change, advising boards and building confidence in financial plans, together with the curiosity and breadth to lead a portfolio extending well beyond finance. Your approach to leadership will matter just as much: you will be open, collaborative and prepared to challenge, with a demonstrable commitment to anti-racist practice, equity and inclusion. This is an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the NMC's financial resilience, organisational culture and public protection purpose.
