Position is responsible for planning, administering, coordinating, and evaluating the division's secondary instructional programs, including middle schools, high schools, alternative schools, and assigned specialty programs. The position providesleadership and support for instructional improvement, curriculum implementation, assessment, professional learning, and program effectiveness.

Must possess a Master's degree and be eligible for a Virginia License with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision; a doctoral degree is preferred. Must possess successful experience in public education, including classroom teaching and educational leadership experience. Must have a minimum of three years of successful experience as a secondary school administrator. Must possess experience in budget development and program administration. Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, school improvement, and current issues impacting secondary education. Must possess a demonstrated knowledge of state and federal regulations, accreditation requirements, and accountability standards governing public education programs. Must possess the ability to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate comprehensive secondary education programs. Must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders.
