Executive It Director

Strategic Technology Solutions (STS), a division of the Tennessee Department of Finance & Administration, serves as the State of Tennessee's central information technology organization. STS partners with state agencies to deliver secure, reliable, and innovative technology solutions that support government services across Tennessee. Through a shared services model, STS provides technology strategy, infrastructure, enterprise solutions, cybersecurity, and digital services that help agencies operate more efficiently and better serve Tennesseans. STS works closely with agencies across multiple business domains to modernize technology, improve customer experience, strengthen operational performance, and drive successful delivery of enterprise initiatives. As part of the States ongoing Enterprise IT Transformation efforts, STS is committed to building high-performing teams, advancing modern product and service delivery practices, and creating technology solutions that support the evolving needs of Tennessee government and the citizens it serves.

As the Executive IT Director, you will play a key leadership role in shaping the future of technology for the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC). You will help drive innovation, modernization, and strategic technology initiatives that support the agency's mission to protect Tennessee's environment and natural resources. In this role, you will:

  • Partner with agency leadership and Strategic Technology Solutions (STS) to align technology investments with business priorities and statewide strategy
  • Lead modernization efforts that improve digital services, operational efficiency, and customer experience
  • Build and mentor high-performing teams focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Champion agile and product-oriented delivery practices that increase responsiveness, value, and service quality
  • Strengthen technology governance, cybersecurity, and operational reliability across the organization
  • Serve as a trusted advisor who translates complex technology challenges into practical, mission-focused solutions

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree or masters degree in business administration or Information Technology. Relevant professional information technology experience may be substituted for the required degree. 7+ years IT, Leadership, or Project Management experience on complex IT development and implementation projects.
