Exercise Physiologist 2
Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Exercise Physiologist 2 to join our Pulmonary Diagnostics team. This role will be Full-time, Day Shift, Monday-Friday (varying 4 days, 9 hour shifts), 6:30am-4:00pm

Exercise Physiologist 2 Responsibilities:
The Exercise Physiologist 2 works on a multidisciplinary team to care for patients and develop comprehensive care plans of agreed-upon goals. Administers or supports diagnostics testing to support diagnosis and treatment plans and participates in a community effort to support chronic disease management. May include evaluating patient responses to prescribed treatment plans, testing, and procedures and developing ongoing plans.
- Develops exercise prescription and risk factor modification by incorporating comorbidities and musculoskeletal disorders, per established program (ACCVPR, ACSM, ATS, ACC, NASM) standards and guidelines, as evidenced by random chart review.
- Develops Individual Treatment Plans through physical assessment and testing to include exercise and strength training programs, patient education, and behavioral health support specific to each patient to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Administers or supports diagnostic testing for patients.
- Demonstrates proper instruction and technique for performing appropriate exercise and strength training as needed to ensure patient safety and adherence to exercise prescription, as evidenced by direct observation.
- Immediately reports significant changes in patient clinical status to appropriate members of the healthcare team and assists with emergency care according to department policy, as evidenced by direct observation.
- Provides validation of clinical decisions for other team members.
- Supports and engages in clinical outcomes and quality improvement initiatives.
- Utilizes standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery. Determines process for delivery of care from direct patient and family communication, technology, and other healthcare team member collaboration.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology
- Experience: Relevant clinical experience in a hospital, clinical setting or clinical internship completed through education coursework
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association required within 6 months of hire; American College of Sports Medicine - Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM CEP) for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab upon start OR American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation - Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (AACVPR CCRP) for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab upon start
