Job Summary:

The Exercise Physiologist in collaboration with the Medical Director, Nurse Manager and Cardiopulmonary Team, is responsible for the development of therapeutic individualized exercise program/s, functional and clinical assessment/s & telemetry monitoring of patients pre-during and post exercise therapy, exercise instruction/s and demonstration/s, patient, family and community education and follow-up throughout the continuum of cardiopulmonary care as demonstrated in the documentation, respective correspondences with patient physician/s and other healthcare providers and callback program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.
  • Practices in accordance with the practice standards established by the American Association of Cardiovascular Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR)
  • Development of therapeutic individualized treatment plans
  • Complete functional and clinical assessments
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Exercise instruction and demonstration
  • Patient and family education
  • Complete accurate and appropriate clinical documentation
  • Correspond with other members of the care team as necessary
  • Other duties as consistent with this role.

Job Requirements

Job Knowledge and Skills

  • Telemetry / dysrhythmia interpretation with appropriate clinical intervention
  • Management of physiological responses to exercise including but not limited to changes in blood pressure, heart rhythm, heart rate, ischemia, hypoxia, hypoglycemia.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or Allied Health field strongly preferred
  • Master's degree in Exercise Science preferred
  • Certification in BLS required
  • ACLS preferred
  • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Certification preferred
  • Previous experience in adult fitness and/or Cardiac and/or Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs preferred

An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.  Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care.

Comp Range:

$22.63 - $31.16
