ResponsibilitiesMaintain the functionality of all TRAIN displays.Start the trains in the morning and turn them off at closing time as scheduled.Professionally interact with guests, including discussing the display with talking points.Work closely with the Color Garden Supervisor to report planting issues with photos, reference points, and brief descriptions.Support Garden staff with additional duties as assigned (e.g., weeding, watering, small planting projects).Maintain tracks, including clearing vegetation and debris, and ensure stainless tracks are cleaned only when necessary.Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues with tracks, engines, and cars.Identify and resolve track level, wear, and obstructions issues; involve the Director of Garden when required.Assist in operations and work with the Master Carpenter and volunteers when needed.Keep display areas tidy, pick up trash, and use a blower each day.Festivals & Annual ProgramsDirectly support the annual delivery of garden festival exhibitions.Assist with Holiday Lights installation and other seasonal displays.Provide onsite tech coverage for Holiday Lights and other exhibitions as scheduled.Assist in building exhibit elements using shop drawings and other design documentation.Handle, install, and strike seasonal display and special exhibit elements.Perform basic maintenance and repairs to inventory on display, such as reattaching loose parts and troubleshooting electrical and data transmission issues.Assist with inventory and data management for production planning, budget management, and internal communications.Contribute to custom‑built elements and installations.Ensure the safety and comfort of all people moving through the garden.Inventory & WarehouseWork in the warehouse as directed, including organization and maintenance of work zones and storage zones.Receive and inventory items, including jack‑o‑lanterns and seasonal shipments.Troubleshoot and repair exhibit features, test cables, power lights, and data systems; repair and re-light features such as Candy Canes.Retrofit existing display items for new designs (e.g., add data decoders to static Candy Canes).Pull needed stock, such as Funkins, cables, and lighting.Assemble new features at the warehouse or workshop as needed.Occasionally direct labor crews moving display items.Other DutiesPerform other duties as assigned.Be present at critical install and strike schedules.RequirementsAbility to learn about G‑Scale train operations, simple electrics, and simple repairs.Ability to troubleshoot train derailments and common low‑voltage electrical issues.Must interact with guests professionally and answer questions about the TRAIN display and all other seasonal displays.Safely operate a 12‑foot orchard ladder, enlisting a spotter when needed.Valid driver's license.Ability to multi‑task and endure extended periods of standing and walking in all weather conditions.Knowledge of basic shop safety in the operation of hand tools and power tools.Hands‑on display production/prop building is a plus.Ability to interpret schedules and inventories produced in Excel.Ability to establish and maintain professional, courteous working relationships with the team and department leads.Part‑time, 20 hours, some weekends and evenings required.Part‑time BenefitsEmployee membership, providing unlimited admission during regular garden hours and a limited number of free tickets to special events; discounts on classes, ticketed events, and Gift Shop purchases.Reciprocal admission for named members to more than 300 gardens through the American Horticultural Society.Free general admission access to many local cultural, historical, and art institutions as part of the employee admission program.#J-18808-Ljbffr
