The Expanse Pharmacy Education Manager, in collaboration with the Expanse Director of Pharmacy Education, is responsible for leading, coordinating, managing, developing, and delivering workflow and technical learning experiences focused on the implementation and ongoing use of Expanse in the medication management space. Reporting to the Expanse Pharmacy Education Director, this role provides direct leadership to Expanse Pharmacy Education team members and is accountable for the execution, quality, and consistency of pharmacy education initiatives across facilities.

The Expanse Pharmacy Education Manager oversees training strategy, resource planning, and day-to-day operations of pharmacy education activities including facility and COE pharmacist training. During go-lives, this role ensures appropriate staffing, coordination, and execution of Expanse cutover and at-the-elbow go-live support for pharmacy. This position requires advanced knowledge of Expanse functionality, a strong understanding of facility clinical workflows, and the ability to lead teams through complex implementations and change. The Manager may also support broader Expanse Pharmacy implementation efforts including workflow assessments, post go-live optimization, and onboarding and mentoring of new education team members. This role serves as a pharmacy education leader and subject matter expert for pharmacy workflows within the Expanse program.

The Expanse Pharmacy Education Manager leads a team responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining learning programs in support of the use and implementation of Expanse in the Medication Management space. These learning programs support corporate, division, and facility executives and clinicians using Expanse. Delivery methods include live onsite training, live virtual instruction, web-based learning, and other technology-based solutions using a blended learning approach. This role provides leadership oversight for pharmacy education contributions to implementation, including cutover support, go-live execution, post go-live education, change control support, workflow reviews, and the development and maintenance of training materials and peripherals for future implementations.

Duties may also include collaborating with peers in any combination of the following:

  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and performance management for Expanse Pharmacy Education team members.
  • Partner with the Expanse Director of Pharmacy Education to establish education strategy, priorities, and resource planning for pharmacy training and go-live support.
  • Oversee the development, standardization, and maintenance of training materials and delivery methods related to Expanse medication management workflows.
  • Coordinate, develop, and deliver course instruction and learning experiences focused on the implementation and use of Expanse.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality education delivery and support for pharmacy end-users during implementation and post go-live.
  • Provide oversight and support for pharmacy go-live activities, including staffing plans, escalation management, huddles, and communication workflows.
  • Mentor and train new pharmacy education team members and support ongoing professional development of the team.
  • Develop and maintain clear and timely communication during implementations, ensuring risks, issues, and concerns are escalated appropriately.
  • Collaborate with the Expanse Director of Pharmacy Education on the design, revision, and ongoing optimization of designated courses and education programs.
  • Manage competing priorities across multiple sites and initiatives while adapting to a rapidly changing implementation environment.
  • Ensure all team-assigned tasks and deliverables are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Provide guidance and oversight for Service Central ticket input, tracking, and resolution during go-live support.
  • Support other Expanse Pharmacy implementation initiatives as needed to meet overall program goals.

About the Company

H

HCA Healthcare

At its founding in 1968, Nashville-based HCA was one of the nation's first hospital companies. Today, we are the nation's leading provider of healthcare services, a company comprised of locally managed facilities that includes about 165 hospitals and 115 freestanding surgery centers in 20 states and England and employing approximately 204,000 people. Approximately four to five percent of all inpatient care delivered in the country today is provided by HCA facilities. Richard M. Bracken serves as Chairman of HCA and R. Milton Johnson is the company's President and Chief Executive Officer.

HCA is committed to the care and improvement of human life and strives to deliver high quality, cost effective healthcare in the communities we serve. Building on the foundation provided by our Mission & Values, HCA puts patients first and works to constantly improve the care we give them by implementing measures that support our caregivers, help ensure patient safety and provide the highest possible quality. Investing in our communities is important to us. HCA typically invests about $1.5 billion annually to keep our facilities modern and up-to-date technologically and to expand and add services where needed. Focusing primarily on communities where the company is a leading healthcare provider, HCA selectively adds new facilities in order to better serve our communities.

And because two HCA founders were physicians, we value highly the strong relationships we've created with local physicians. We endeavor to provide them with a wide array of services and modern facilities in order to help them deliver the best possible care.
