Bottoms Bridge Tire & Auto Care is hiring an experienced A- or strong B-level Automotive Technician who can independently diagnose and repair modern passenger vehicles and light trucks.

\n

\n

This is not an entry-level technician position.

\n

\n

We are looking for someone who is already comfortable taking a vehicle from customer concern to diagnosis, repair, verification, and complete technician documentation without requiring constant supervision.

\n

\n

The right technician will be able to produce quality work at a reasonable pace, communicate when a job is being held up, and take responsibility for the repairs they personally perform.

What You’ll Be Expected to Handle

\n

You should be comfortable independently performing a combination of general repair and diagnostic work, including:

\n

• \n
• Engine-performance and drivability diagnosis
• \n
• Check-engine-light and warning-light diagnosis
• \n
• Electrical diagnosis and repair
• \n
• Brake diagnosis and repair
• \n
• Steering and suspension diagnosis and repair
• \n
• Heating and A/C diagnosis and service
• \n
• Cooling-system diagnosis and repair
• \n
• Batteries, starters and charging systems
• \n
• Preventive maintenance and fluid services
• \n
• Tire, wheel and alignment-related work
• \n
• General mechanical repair
• \n
• Digital Vehicle Inspections
• \n
• Test drives and post-repair verification
• \n
• Identification of legitimate additional maintenance and repair needs
• \n

You will also be expected to provide clear technician documentation, including findings, measurements, photographs when appropriate, recommended repairs, and information the Service Writer needs to accurately communicate with the customer.

What We’re Looking For

\n

We are specifically looking for a technician who:

\n

\n

• \n
• Has substantial professional automotive repair experience
• \n
• Can independently diagnose rather than relying on parts replacement as a diagnostic strategy
• \n
• Is comfortable using scan tools, service information and diagnostic equipment
• \n
• Understands electrical testing and basic diagnostic theory
• \n
• Can accurately inspect a vehicle and identify legitimate repair and maintenance needs
• \n
• Produces useful technician notes and DVI documentation
• \n
• Understands that quality control is part of completing the repair
• \n
• Communicates immediately when a repair, part, diagnosis or workflow issue is preventing progress
• \n
• Can manage assigned work productively throughout the day
• \n
• Takes accountability for work personally performed
• \n
• Works effectively with Service Writers, the Shop Foreman and other technicians
• \n
• Is comfortable working within documented shop procedures and standards
• \n
• Has a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• \n

\n

\n

**5+ years of professional automotive repair experience is preferred.**

\n

**ASE certifications are strongly valued.**

\n

**A current Virginia State Safety Inspector license is strongly preferred, although we will consider highly qualified technicians who do not currently hold one.**

\n

**Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM**

Weekend work is not part of the normal schedule. Occasional additional hours may be available or requested based on business needs.

Pay

**$30–$45 per hour**

Final compensation will be based on demonstrated technical ability, experience, certifications, diagnostic capability and overall qualifications.

\n

\n

Performance-based incentive opportunities may also be available in addition to the hourly rate.
