Experienced CNC Mills/Lathes Machine Operator- 1st Shift

Lapeer area high precision, high volume machining company is looking for Experienced CNC Mills/Lathes Operators to join their team.  This is an automotive parts manufacturing facility.  1st and 2nd Shift available.  Pay is based on experience, up to $24 per hour.  Candidates must submit an up-to-date resume to be considered. 1st Shift 5:30AM - 4:00PM and Second Shift 4:30PM- 3:00AM; Monday-Saturday overtime is mandatory.  All candidates must be willing to work mandatory overtime on the weekends.   Apply Now!
Position Summary: This role is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment to produce high-quality, tight-tolerance components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of working independently while maintaining production efficiency and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:CNC Programming & Setup

1. Program, edit, and optimize CNC programs (G-code) for Mill or Lathe operations.
2. Set up machine including material, tooling selection, offsets, and fixture alignment.
3. Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings to ensure part accuracy.
4. Select proper cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials.

 Machining & Production

1. Operate CNC Mill or Lathe to manufacture precision components.
2. Monitor machine operations and adjust as necessary to maintain tolerances.
3. Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
4. Maintain production efficiency while ensuring adherence to quality standards.
5. Inspect and document parts as required on inspection sheets.

 Quality & Safety

1. Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality surface finishes.
2. Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements.
3. Follow all company safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.

 Qualifications

1. 2+ years of CNC machining experience (Mill or Lathe specialization).
2. Proficiency in G-code programming and editing at the machine.
3. Strong understanding of blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
4. Experience with precision measuring tools and quality inspection processes.
5. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
6. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

 Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience with Fanuc, Allen Bradley is preferred
2. Experience machining a variety of materials.
3. Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
4. Good work ethic, dependable, great communication skills, positive team player.
5. Self-motivated, person of high integrity, shows initiative.

 Physical Requirements

1. Ability to stand for extended periods.
2. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
3. Manual dexterity and attention to fine detail work.
