The Experienced Heavy Industrial Manual Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating manual machine tools to manufacture, repair, and maintain precision industrial components and equipment. The role requires expertise in interpreting engineering drawings, operating heavy machining equipment, and producing high-quality parts while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up, adjust, and operate a variety of manual machine tools to produce precision parts and components.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical instructions.
Machine metal parts to required specifications and tolerances.
Select, align, secure, and remove fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials safely.
Determine the appropriate tools and machining methods for assigned tasks.
Operate lifting equipment as needed during machining operations.
Use precision measuring instruments and gauges to verify dimensional accuracy.
Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of machinery and equipment.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while following safety procedures.
Coordinate with team members to complete production and repair activities efficiently.
Work overtime, evenings, or weekends as required.
Perform additional machining-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
5–10 years of industrial machining experience preferred.
Experience operating heavy manual machining equipment such as horizontal lathes, milling machines, boring mills, vertical turning lathes, planers, grinders, drill presses, hydraulic presses, band saws, and portable tools.
Experience with turning, drilling, tapping, boring, honing, and polishing processes.
Large-part machining experience preferred.
Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.
Ability to read blueprints and precision measuring tools.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Basic mathematical skills related to machining.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
