Job Title: Experienced Industrial Security Specialist

Status: Full-time Professional

Annual Salary Range: $77,600 - $146,500

*Salary commensurate with education and experience.

Job Summary

The Industrial Security Specialist works under limited direction, performing moderately complex critical security functions that support either internal security operations or external security oversight of the supply chain. Key responsibilities include assessing and overseeing the security programs of assigned facilities or third-party entities, reviewing physical controls, policies, procedures, and other documentation to ensure compliance and effectiveness. The role involves identifying and communicating security risks that may impact the organization, providing consultations to internal stakeholders or third-party suppliers to enhance security capabilities, and increasing overall security knowledge and awareness. Additionally, the specialist maintains a thorough understanding of core security requirements and ensures robust measures are in place to protect the organization's assets without hindering productivity. The role also includes participating in training, coordinating, and consulting with BPMI, NNL, NNPP suppliers, and service vendor personnel on all aspects of security programs.

Essential Duties:

  • Coordinate and manage the security programs, policies, and procedures of Program suppliers to assess their capability to protect sensitive information and meet security requirements.
  • Manage audits of security programs, personnel, physical security of facilities, and information protection at suppliers or internal security programs.
  • Coordinate in preparing, administering, and disseminating education and awareness programs for new employee orientation, surveillance, briefings, and bulletins for BPMI and NNPP supplier personnel.
  • Support risk assessments of suppliers and convey areas of concern to internal stakeholders and management.
  • Support procurement processes with significant security impacts and downstream production implications (e.g., CSCS, FOCI, sponsorship).
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders, management, and suppliers on credible threats, exploits, contractual, and information security topics that may impact the industrial base.
  • Review and disposition visitor, site, and other related security plans or documents required for the protection of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information.
  • Serve the classification office as a security liaison to suppliers to ensure classification alignment.
  • Prepare and present to the government, internal stakeholders, or suppliers on incidents, performance, and information assurance topics relevant to protecting NNPI.
  • Maintain awareness of security and information protection trends via training or other methods and inform internal and external stakeholders of potential impacts.
  • Semi-frequent travel to supplier facilities (15-25%).

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Security/Criminal Justice, Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience.
  • Fourteen (14) or more years of completed education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years of experience requirements.
  • Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
