All Anchor provides field inspection, testing, documentation, and engineering-support services for rooftop anchorage, façade-access, and fall-protection systems.
We are seeking an
experienced Roof Anchor Inspection & Load Testing Technician to support commercial-building projects throughout
Illinois and Iowa.
This is
not an entry-level position. Candidates must have prior hands-on experience inspecting existing roof anchors and related rooftop anchorage systems.
The ideal candidate will also have experience performing proof/load testing, documenting existing anchor conditions, identifying deficiencies, working with façade-access or suspended-access systems, and preparing detailed field documentation for subsequent engineering review.
Responsibilities
The Roof Anchor Inspection & Load Testing Technician will be responsible for field activities that may include:
- Performing inspections of existing rooftop anchors and related anchorage systems.
- Identifying and documenting roof anchors, tie-back anchors, davit bases, and related façade-access/fall-protection components.
- Creating accurate anchor inventories and location records.
- Identifying anchor types, configurations, attachment conditions, and supporting substrates.
- Taking required measurements.
- Producing detailed photographic documentation of each anchor and associated conditions.
- Inspecting accessible anchor components, connections, fasteners, welds, and surrounding conditions.
- Identifying and documenting visible corrosion, deterioration, deformation, cracking, damaged components, questionable welds, loose components, and other deficiencies.
- Performing roof-anchor proof/load testing in accordance with approved procedures.
- Setting up and operating applicable testing equipment.
- Accurately recording applied loads, test durations, results, movement, and observations.
- Verifying testing-equipment identification and calibration status before use.
- Following established testing acceptance criteria and stop-work procedures.
- Completing standardized inspection and testing reports.
- Maintaining traceability between individual anchors, photographs, inspection findings, and test results.
- Organizing and submitting complete project documentation for QC and engineering review.
- Communicating unusual conditions, failed tests, deficiencies, or conditions outside established procedures.
- Performing additional field investigation or testing when requested.
- Coordinating professionally with building owners, property managers, contractors, engineers, and other project personnel.
- Maintaining inspection and testing equipment in proper working condition.
Required Experience
Prior professional roof-anchor inspection experience is required.
Qualified candidates should have hands-on experience with several of the following:
- Existing roof-anchor inspections
- Roof-anchor proof/load testing
- Tie-back anchor inspections
- Davit systems and davit bases
- Façade-access anchorage
- Suspended-access systems
- Fall-protection anchorage
- Existing-building rooftop conditions
- Anchor identification and inventory
- Anchor condition assessment and documentation
- Inspection of accessible welds, fasteners, connections, and attachment conditions
- Field measurements
- Detailed photographic documentation
- Preparation of roof-anchor inspection/testing reports
Applicants whose experience is limited solely to general roofing, construction, window cleaning, or rope access
without actual roof-anchor inspection experience will not meet the minimum experience requirement for this position.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must:
- Have documented professional roof-anchor inspection experience.
- Understand common rooftop anchor and façade-access system configurations.
- Have experience working safely on commercial rooftops and at height.
- Understand applicable fall-protection practices.
- Be capable of recognizing and accurately documenting visible anchor deficiencies.
- Be able to follow established inspection and testing procedures.
- Take accurate field measurements.
- Produce clear and complete photographic documentation.
- Maintain accurate identification and traceability for inspected/tested anchors.
- Be comfortable operating inspection and load-testing equipment.
- Complete detailed digital field reports.
- Be comfortable using smartphones, tablets, cameras, and electronic documentation systems.
- Possess strong attention to detail.
- Communicate professionally with project personnel.
- Be willing and able to travel throughout Illinois and Iowa.
- Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation as required for assigned projects.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Multiple years of roof-anchor inspection experience.
- Roof-anchor proof/load-testing experience.
- Experience with hydraulic or mechanical anchor-testing equipment.
- Façade-access system inspection experience.
- Davit-system experience.
- Tie-back anchor experience.
- Suspended-scaffold/access experience.
- Existing-building inspection experience.
- SPRAT or IRATA certification.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
- OSHA fall-protection training.
- Competent Person training related to fall protection.
- First Aid/CPR.
- Aerial lift / MEWP certification.
- Relevant welding or structural inspection experience.
- Experience working with licensed structural engineers on anchor inspection/certification programs.
