Job Description

The Enterprise Systems Development (ESD) unit in the Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a Principal Software Developer to help lead the design and implementation of a new facility management IT solution. This role will focus on configuring and implementing a modern Integrated Workplace Management System on the ServiceNow platform, executing a major data migration effort, and developing automated business metrics and reporting to support data driven decision making.


As a key member of the ESD team, you will:
•    Support the technical transition of NNL's Integrated Workplace Management System to PrimeNet using ServiceNow, including configuration, customization, integration, and testing. 
•    Plan and execute complex data migration activities (profiling, mapping, validation) to ensure accuracy and integrity of asset, work management, and related operational data. 
•    Design, develop, and maintain applications and tools that support planning and management of Preventive and Corrective Maintenance. 
•    Build and automate metrics, dashboards, and reports that provide meaningful insight into facility and maintenance performance at all organizational levels. 
•    Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and ensure systems and metrics align with enterprise level operational needs. 
•    Help identify, evaluate, and implement additional IT systems and integrations that enhance site wide engineering, maintenance and operations capabilities. 
•    Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to other developers and project team members, promoting sound development practices and high quality delivery.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; orMaster's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills

• Demonstrated experience as a versatile software developer, including:

  • Configuring and extending ServiceNow (or similar enterprise platforms)
  • Leading or executing large?scale data migration efforts
  • Implementing or modernizing enterprise IT systems

• Experience developing and configuring applications tailored to specialized business processes
(e.g., facility management, maintenance management, work management)

• Strong background in metrics and analytics, including:

  • Defining key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics
  • Designing and automating dashboards, reports, and data pipelines
  • Performing data analysis to support management decision?making

• Proven ability to deliver clear, maintainable, and well?documented solutions
through adherence to standard software development lifecycle practices

• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Power Platform
(Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI), including building applications, workflows, and dashboards

Pay Range

$117,900.00 - $184,300.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
