Position Summary: The Weld Production II (Technician) is an intermediate-level welding role responsible for independently setting up, assembling, tacking, and welding steel components to meet engineering and customer specifications. This position emphasizes efficiency, weld quality, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while supporting overall production goals.Key Responsibilities:
Independently set up and perform MIG welding on steel weldments
Assemble and join parts according to blueprints and weld prints
Complete tack and finish welds while maintaining dimensional accuracy
Perform part preparation tasks including grinding, deburring, and cleaning welds
Select and verify proper welding parameters and materials
Monitor weld quality and make adjustments as needed
Operate and maintain welding equipment following standard procedures
Troubleshoot minor equipment or process issues
Inspect finished parts using basic measuring tools
Maintain organized work areas and equipment cleanliness
Document production or quality-related notes when required
Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives
Follow all safety policies and properly use required PPE
Qualifications:
Previous welding or fabrication experience preferred (typically 2+ years)
Proficiency in MIG welding and weld setup
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols
Strong attention to detail and quality standards
Ability to work independently in a production environment
Good communication and teamwork skills
Physically capable of standing, lifting, and handling materials
