JOB TITLE: Experiential Graphic Designer III (EGD 3)

JOB SUMMARY

Experiential Graphic Designer III is a mid-career position within the Experiential Graphic Design Studio. This designer has 5+ years professional design experience specifically within the experiential/environmental graphic design industry. The primary activity for an Experiential Graphic Designer III is to develop design or technical solutions along with advancing their professional development and skills in support of the Experiential Graphics Studio. This designer can work independently, leading small projects while still accepting direction from a Senior Level Designer and/or Studio Leader. An Experiential Graphic Designer III is a contributor to the design team and overall project success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to, the following:

Design & Production

• Produce quality design deliverables, including drawings, renderings, and presentations, adhering to both Cooper Carry and client guidelines.
• Refine skills to include drawing, rendering, visual and presentation techniques utilizing internal resources.
• Refine knowledge of required computer software (Adobe Creative Suite, CAD Tools, SketchUp, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).
• Make design and documentation decisions using discretion and good judgement.
• Independently prepare and produce scaled drawings, design and construction documents including scaled, detail drawings and specifications throughout the design process, with guidance and review from Senior Designers and Studio Leaders.
• Design and development of logos and brands for the built environment.
• Task oriented, accepting direction from others.
• Apply understanding of municipal signage codes, fabrication construction methods and general architectural documentation.
• Apply design process skills and knowledge by performing foundational project and studio tasks, such as meeting minutes, studio library maintenance and project message schedules.
• Ensure designs meet applicable codes and regulations, including municipal signage codes, fabrication standards and general architectural documentation.
• Ability to work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
• Work independently and as part of a team, accepting direction and contributing to project success.
• Attend and participate in meetings and presentations.
• Engage with clients by actively participating in client meetings and presentations, including takingdetailed meeting notes.
• Maintain project filing and email documentation.
• Help facilitate client correspondence while copying team or project leadership.
• Collaborate with the Experiential Graphic Design Studio to develop creative solutions for branding, wayfinding, signage, and experiential installations.
• Create compelling and innovative graphic designs that effectively communicate design intent to clients and stakeholders.
• Ability to create physical prototypes or mockups to enhance visualization and evaluation of designs in a three-dimensional space.
• Actively participate and lead design presentations.
• Assist in proposal, marketing, and presentation development.
• Lead the documenting of project compliance with safety and ADA accessibility codes.
• Understand target audience and project requirements.
• Willingness to learn and grow through feedback from peers, Senior Designers and Studio Leaders.

Project Management

• Assist with monitoring project schedules and budget requirements.
• Assist with writing proposals, drafting project scope, schedule, and fee.
• Understand project finances and budget constraints.
• Assist in providing direction to junior designers (EGD I & ll) to ensure project standards and deadlinesare met.
• Review received shop drawings and maintain submittal log.

Studio & Industry

• Develop and maintain knowledge of Cooper Carry projects and resources.
• Promote a collaborative team atmosphere.
• Contribute to the mentorship and guidance of student interns and junior designers (EGD I & ll).
• Assist in developing and maintaining team standards, including drawing, rendering, and presentation techniques.
• Assist to maintain and nurture client relationships.
• Contribute to the overall quality and success of the project, studio, and firm.
• Assist with business development and seeking business opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Architects, Landscape Architects, and Interior Designers) toseamlessly integrate graphic elements into the overall design of spaces.
• Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate fresh ideas into design concepts, including best practices for fabrication and materials.
• Professional organization membership not required but recommended.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate of an accredited design program with bachelor's level degree or equivalent design experience in graphic design, visual communications, environmental graphics, industrial design, interior design, or related design industries.
• 5+ years professional experience, specifically as an Experiential/Environmental Graphic Designer.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator with CADTools, InDesign, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with 3D design software or motion graphics software is a plus.
• Strong design and graphic skills in branding, signage, wayfinding, branded environments, and 3D spaces.
• Demonstrated skills with dimensional fabrication and print production methods.
• Familiarity working with fabricators to produce high quality installations that are within budget.
• Ability to make design decisions and guide junior designers (EGD I and II) to meet project objectives.
• Strong communication, coordination, organization, and presentation skills.
• Excellent visual communication of ideas via sketching, drawing, and/or rendering.
• Ability to work and maintain multiple projects or tasks at one time.

Compensation range offered for this Job Posting: $70k - $85k annually.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities; however, an Experiential Graphic Designer III will assist in mentoring junior designers (EGD I & II), while reporting directly to Team Leaders, Senior Designers, and/or Studio Leaders.
