Job Summary

Mechanical Engineer supporting a major capital project at a chemical facility, with an emphasis on piping systems and project execution. The role will support the Lead Mechanical Engineer in design, construction, commissioning, and technical oversight activities.

Job Description

• Support the Lead Mechanical Engineer as part of the project team.
• Develop and review piping layouts, equipment arrangements, piping specifications, and design packages.
• Assist with establishing project design requirements and preparing mechanical/piping discipline estimates.
• Ensure piping designs meet process, operability, maintainability, safety, and applicable code requirements.
• Support development of construction and fabrication packages, including drawings, vendor data, and specifications.
• Assist with project design documentation and closeout activities.
• Support project commissioning, checkout, and startup activities.
• Provide technical oversight of mechanical and piping contractors.
• Collaborate with internal teams, project leadership, contractors, vendors, and other external stakeholders.

Skills Required

• 12+ years of engineering experience.
• Broad knowledge of mechanical codes and industry piping standards.
• Expertise in CAEPIPE pipe stress analysis software.
• Experience with piping system installation, startup, and commissioning.
• Strong understanding of piping systems and capital project execution.
• Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, and assertiveness skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels.
• Strong HSE and safety-focused mindset.
• Ability to follow applicable safety, engineering, and industry standards.
• Preferred experience with COMPRESS pressure vessel modeling software.

Education/Training/Certifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to pass drug screenings and criminal background checks
• Start Time: 08:00 AM
• Ability to travel and work onsite based on project phase.
• Onsite requirements may range from approximately 1 day per month during the early project phase to up to 5 days per week during startup and commissioning.
• Candidates located in the Kansas City or St. Louis area are preferred.

Pay Rate/Salary

• Estimated Salary: 77.71 to $85.71 per hour. Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors.
