Job Summary

This position reports to the Site Project Engineering Manager and provides instrumentation expertise for engineering projects. The role focuses on instrumentation design, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), project planning, cost estimation, procurement, system startup, and troubleshooting. The position also supports data management, reporting, and overall project execution.
Job Description
- Manage multiple tasks to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Communicate project status, updates, and issues with stakeholders
- Resolve project issues during installation using engineering expertise
- Review project drawings and provide markups for drafting updates
- Develop and oversee designs and work plans from conceptual to detailed stages
- Perform instrumentation design tasks including instrument selection, valve specification, and cable sizing
- Assist in tray routing, wire routing, and other design aspects
- Collaborate with Functional Safety Project Manager to prioritize and implement projects
- Develop and update instrument spec sheets, loop sheets, connection diagrams, and schematics
- Prepare cable schedules, instrument indices, equipment lists, and material takeoffs
- Prepare bid requests and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals
- Conduct field walks to assess systems and support cost estimation
- Coordinate with DCS team to implement system changes
- Work with various voltage levels (24VDC, 120VAC, 480VAC) and instrumentation systems (4-20mA, 0-5VDC, 0-10VDC)
- Perform field engineering tasks including supervision of subcontractors
- Ensure QA/QC compliance with design specifications
- Address work quality and safety concerns with project stakeholders
- Assist with equipment commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting
Skills Required
- Minimum of 8 years of instrumentation engineering experience
- Preferred: at least 5 years in chemical production or refinery environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), SIL, and SRS
- Familiarity with IEC 61508 standards
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work independently and follow direction
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Self-starter with strong initiative
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Ability to climb stairs or ladders unassisted
- Ability to work independently with general supervision
Education/Training/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
Additional Requirements
- Must pass a drug screening and criminal background checks
- Shift Start: 08:00AM
- Possibly extend for 6 or 12 months after the initial 6 months.
Pay Rate/Salary
- Estimated Salary: $63.43 to $71.43 per hour. Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors.
