License/Certification Required Essential Job Functions
Work in this class involves the preparation and serving of food in a state facility. Duties include food preparation, to include large scale cooking and/or baking of a wide variety of food products and/or table service to customers in the dining area. Duties also include kitchen, service area, and dining room sanitation and cleaning as required by Health and Sanitation good practices. Employees in this class may also serve as a lead worker over subordinate staff including students assigned to the foodservice operation. Work is performed in accordance with menus prepared and quantities needed based on projected business as approved and monitored by a supervisor. Foodservice skill is required in determining cooking times for the various food items in order to complete all aspects of the meal at the appropriate serving time and temperature. Work is performed under close supervision by a higher-level food service employee and is reviewed regularly for successful completion of assignments. Duties may also include serving food and beverages to customers while displaying consistent and appropriate serving etiquette, and merchandizing products or displaying items attractively. Employees record menus and convey food orders to customers and other production staff. Employees serve prepared food and drinks providing continuous service to customers. Employees may also operate a dish machine or clear dishes and trays from tables or dining rooms following each meal and present customers with their check. Accountability and accuracy is expected when handling money from customers or vending machines. Adherence of North Carolina ABC Licensure Laws is expected. Employees also perform any other responsible task as requested by a supervisor.

Work Schedule/Hours
Campus Dining is a Sunday - Saturday, 6:00 am - 11:00 pm operation. Employees are scheduled two days off each week based on business need. Days off may not be consecutive days off.
Actual schedule times may vary.
Employees may be required to work some flex hours to support the needs of the business and/or for special campus events. Schedules will be adjusted as needed to provide coverage in these cases.

Lifting items over 40 lbs. Stooping and bending to retrieve items from ovens, shelves, etc. Sweeping and mopping area each day. Scrubbing and cleaning of all equipment daily. This employee is required to stand on your feet for your entire 8-hour shift.
Hiring Range $14 - $18.88
Pay will be commensurate with applicant competencies, budget, equity and market considerations.
