Hours per day: 3 hours per day; 12 hours/week. Monday - Thursday After the school day ends

Additional Information: In collaboration with the Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO) Department staff, building administrators and community partners, this position will supervise student while they are participating in Extended Learning Opportunities after school.

SUMMARY

This position monitors students during District-sponsored activities, programs, and events to promote appropriate behavior, maintain an orderly environment, and support student safety.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Observes and monitors student behavior during District-sponsored activities, programs, transitions, and events to promote appropriate and safe behavior; including but not limited to arrival and departure, lunch, playground, field trips, and extended learning opportunities.
  • Intervenes as needed to assist and support students during activities, programs, transitions, and events. Follows established procedures for addressing student behavior concerns, with support from the principal or designee as needed; documents and reports incidents as required.
  • Provides support in the school environment during student activities, programs, transitions, and events and remains alert to potentially unsafe situations to prevent accidents and/or injuries. Supports student "check in" and "check out."
  • Provides routine communication and support to program staff, school personnel, and District departments regarding daily operational and student supervision matters.

OTHER JOB DUTIES

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS

Works with students in indoor and outdoor settings; physical ability to assist children; may be exposed to infectious diseases and inclement weather.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

High school graduation or equivalent.

Licenses/Special Requirements

Fingerprints and successful Washington State Patrol (WSP), FBI background, and sexual misconduct clearances required.

Current CPR and First Aid certification required, or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of building policies and procedures related to playground and lunchroom student behavior.

Ability to work cooperatively with others.

Ability to exercise fairness in dealing with students.

Ability to establish and maintain effective work and student relationships with a variety of people in a multi-cultural, diverse socio-economic setting.
