General Description:
The 1:1 Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides individualized health support and direct care for a designated student during the school day under the supervision of the school nurse. This role ensures the student's health, safety, and well-being, allowing for full participation in educational activities.
Responsibilities:
- Personal Care: Assist the assigned student with activities of daily living, including toileting, diapering, hygiene, and feeding.
- Mobility Support: Provide safe lifting, transferring, and mobility assistance throughout the school day.
- Medical Support: Deliver first aid and provide ongoing health-related care as directed by the school nurse.
- Health Monitoring: Observe and track the student's health status, including vital signs and any changes in condition, reporting promptly to the school nurse.
- Emergency Response: Respond quickly to health-related emergencies for the assigned student.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the school nurse, teachers, and therapists to support the student's individualized health and educational plan.
Safety and Environment: Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for the assigned student at all times.
Qualifications Required:
- Patience, empathy, and dedication to individualized student care
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow the school nurse's directions and care plans
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
- Current CNA license
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred:
- Previous experience working with children, particularly in educational or healthcare settings
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and have the physical ability to lift, transfer, and assist a student with mobility
