Extended School Year - STRIVE Elementary Program Teacher Position Type: Summer School Position Location: Washington Street Schools/Franklin Middle School Reports to: Building Principal Salary: $234.00 per day Dates/Hours: July 6, 2026 - August 6, 2026 - Hours: 5.5 hours/day

  • Elementary: 4 days/week; M, T, W, TH Students in session 5 hours from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Teachers need to be present 15 minutes before the students arrive and 15 minutes after the students leave.
  • 30 minutes/day of prep time is built into the daily rate Successful applicant must be available for the full duration of the program

General Description: As part of its special education programming, Extended School Year (ESY) Services are provided to eligible students. Franklin offers a number of ESY programs from preschool through high school. Extended School Year services are provided to students who meet one or more of the criteria for such services as outlined in special education law. Typically, eligible students require services because they have demonstrated or are likely to demonstrate substantial regression in his/her learning skills and/or substantial difficulty relearning such skills if an extended year program is not provided. Overview of Responsibilities: The STRIVE program is a specialized program for students who require a language-based, multi- sensory, ABA based program with a focus on functional academics, pre-vocational and vocational skills.

  • · Plan and organize small group instruction in an inclusion setting for students with social- emotional, Autism Spectrum, and complex learning disabilities, as well as typically developing peers
  • Organize structured day of academic, social, and recreational opportunities
  • · Provide maintenance instruction in early childhood curriculum, social skills, and behavioral strategies
  • · Assign assistant(s) to student and program responsibilities
  • · Coordinate with related service staff (OT, PT, SLP, Psychologist)
  • Communicate with parents
  • Write student progress reports at end of program
  • Plan and facilitate recreation activities for the afternoon

Qualifications Required: Special education teaching licensure required; knowledge of and experience with therapeutic and academic strategies and interventions for students, behavior management and a variety of specialized instructional techniques in social skills, reading, written language and math; ability to develop and implement positive behavior intervention plans; a background in ABA Methodologies required

  • Must successfully pass Criminal Offender (CORI) background check and national fingerprinting screening (CHRI).
