POSITION: Summer Testing Evaluators – Teachers and Related Service Providers Special Education Teacher Speech-Language Pathologists Physical Therapists Occupational Therapists Audiologists

Available positions include K-12 and Infant-Toddler (Birth – 5 years old)

POSITION SUMMARY The Department of Special Education is in need of evaluators to complete assessments during the summer months. Formal assessments will need to be completed in the following areas as determined by the IEP team:

  • Academics
  • Speech
  • Language
  • Fine Motor
  • Gross Motor
  • Hearing or Functional Skills In addition, written assessment reports will be required. Participation in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to review results may be necessary.

REPORTS TO Director and Supervisor of Special Education

EDUCATION CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Appropriate Maryland Educator Certification: Special Education, Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Audiologist, etc.
  • Experience assessing students as part of the IFSP and/or the IEP process to determine eligibility for special education and for programming.

KNOWLEDGE ABILITIES AND SKILL

  • Demonstrated skill in using a variety of formal/standardized assessment tools, previous experience and knowledge required for birth-5 years or grade K-12.
  • Highly effective communication skills, both oral and written.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND DUTIES

  • Participation in IEP meetings as needed.
  • Development of written assessment reports.
  • Medicaid billing if applicable.

EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION June 24, 2026

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Providers will be compensated at a per diem rate.
  • FLSA Exempt

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  • Position will remain open until filled. Interviews may begin as early as April.

  • References must be directly related to educational experience and must include immediate supervisor.
  • State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation.
  • Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
