Summary: Cobalt’s External Affairs Coordinator promotes the organization’s mission and supports the External Affairs group (partnerships, media, and communications) with an emphasis on Partnerships in growing Cobalt’s organizational and community relationships. This supports our strategic goal of expanded statewide outreach and developing both organizational and individual relationships. This position will work closely with the Director of Strategic Partnerships and will report to the Director of External Affairs.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Partnerships and Outreach Support 

Collaborate with the Cobalt partnerships, communications and policy teams, to integrate and create effective, targeted outreach that includes sharing advocacy tools and materials, research organizations and people for targeted partnership outreach, assist in the development of webinars, synthesize information and respond to partnerships engagement opportunities, and assist in delivering campaign messages.

  • Represent Cobalt, as needed, at a range of reproductive health rights and justice events, stakeholder affairs, and advocacy group meetings as an attendee, speaker, and/or tabling staff. Some of these meetings may take place in the evening or on weekends.
  • Assist the Director of Strategic Partnerships in the development of strategic and targeted outreach campaigns, including researching potential new partners and individuals, stewarding organizational partners, developing targeted outreach in priority regions, utilizing tools for connecting and building relationships via email, social media presence, and scheduling meetings (1:1, virtual, and in person).

Shop for Change Guide 

  • Lead on updating and promoting Cobalt’s year-round Shop For Change guide in collaboration with the Development department, the contracted website team, the contracted email team, and Cobalt External Affairs.

Data and Systems 

  • Maintains partnership, business, and stakeholder data to ensure accurate and update information using tools such as EveryAction8 and Google Suite.
  • Maintains partnerships database to track current departmental relationships and ensure all departments are informed on existing partnerships 

Event Planning

  • Support External Affairs in the planning and execution of a variety of events, including the Cobalt annual gala, house parties, and in person and online briefings and meetings. 

  • Monitor, and attend as needed, activities with a range of reproductive health rights and justice organizations, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders. 

  • Support scheduling, meeting coordination and planning program and outreach activities.

Website Content and Social Media Support

  • Work with the Director of External Affairs and website consultant to maintain and update content on the Cobalt Advocates website.

  • Support website, google slides, PowerPoint, or other presentation tools with content or graphics when needed.

  • Support Social media content creation and posting when needed.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Interest and passion in reproductive rights and justice 

  • Self-starter. Experience working with minimal supervision and able to perform effectively under tight time deadlines. 

  • Ability to organize systems and complex information with attention to detail 

  • Proficiency in Google Suite and/or EveryAction8 is a plus

  • Demonstrated problem solving 

  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication  

  • Knowledge of Canva graphics program a plus

  • Commitment to incorporating diversity, equity and inclusion principles into all aspects of the position

  • Ability to undertake, balance and manage multiple tasks/projects

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and members of the public.

This position is hybrid and will include some evening and weekend work.

 

This is a non-exempt union position, with employer paid health insurance, dental, vision and retirement plan. Generous time off including paid sick leave, holidays and office closure at the end of December.
