    External Auditor 2 Position Overview

As an External Auditor 2, you will play an important role in ensuring the financial integrity and compliance of the programs and services we provide to our clients.

    In this position, you will conduct routine and non-routine audits of OOD's programs and the providers who receive financial resources from us. This involves examining financial records, verifying the accuracy of transactions, and assessing the effectiveness of internal controls. Your work will help identify areas for improvement, mitigate risks, and ensure that our organization and our partners are meeting all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

    As an External Auditor 2, you will work collaboratively with your team and OOD leadership to plan and execute audits, analyze data, and prepare comprehensive reports. You will also provide resources or references to agency staff and contractors, and/or providers to help them understand the importance of financial controls and compliance. Your expertise in accounting, auditing, and data analysis will be important in supporting OOD's mission and ensuring the responsible stewardship of public funds.

    To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in auditing or accounting, with experience conducting audits in accordance with professional standards. You should also possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as keen attention to detail.     Division of Fiscal Management

    The Division of Fiscal Management oversees the financial resources of the agency in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies. This includes budget planning, revenue forecasting, expenditure monitoring, and financial reporting. Fiscal staff are responsible for ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the use of public funds, as well as identifying opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation. They may also be involved in long-term financial planning and analysis to support the agency's mission and objectives.

    Pay Information

    Starting salary will be step 1, subject to law or union contract requirements. New hires advance to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. There are cost of living increases to these rates each year and additional longevity supplements begin after 5 years. The current wage progression for this position is in the table below.

    Our roles are primarily in-office to encourage collaboration and connection, however some locations may have adjusted on-site requirements based on space availability at this time. Reporting details will be provided by the supervisor before the start date. Employees must reside at a location that allows for reasonable response time to workplace reporting requirements.

    Daytime travel within Ohio will be required. The selected candidate must provide own transportation or, in order to operate a state vehicle, must have a valid driver's license.

    This position shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the OCSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. The selection process consists of an online assessment and a remote structured interview. All communications are sent via email. Candidates should make sure their account contains an email address that is checked regularly including checking junk and/or spam.

    Background Check

    The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Criminal convictions do not necessarily preclude an applicant from consideration for a position. An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.

    4 years' experience in auditing or accounting which must have included 2 years auditing experience in accordance with auditing standards or in accordance with prescribed management policies and/or procedures as specified on agency position description.

    • Or completion of undergraduate core coursework in accounting, business administration, computer science or related field AND 24 months' experience in auditing or accounting which must have included 12 months' auditing experience in accordance with auditing standards or in accordance with prescribed management policies and/or procedures as specified on agency position description.
    • Or 12 months' experience as External Auditor 1, 66461.
    • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
