Extra-Duty RN for Field Trips/Student Activities JobID: 74755 Position Type: Student Support Services/School NurseDate Posted: 9/30/2026Location: Boone County Board of EducationCounty: Boone County Schools Additional Information: Show/HideBOONE COUNTY SCHOOLSContracted Registered Nurse (RN) â Field Trips and Student Activities2026â2027 School YearBoone County Schools is seeking qualified Registered Nurses (RNs) licensed in the State of West Virginia to provide contracted nursing services for students with medical needs while participating in field trips, extracurricular activities, and other school-sponsored events during the 2026â2027 school year.Position Type: Contracted/As NeededSchool Year: 2026â2027Location: Boone County Schools and approved field trip/activity locationsSchedule: As needed based upon student and district needs; assignments may occur during or outside the regular school day and may require travel.Salary: Hourly Daily Rate Primary ResponsibilitiesThe contracted RN will accompany assigned students on field trips, school-sponsored activities, and other approved events when nursing services are required. Responsibilities may include monitoring students with identified medical conditions; administering medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, parent/guardian authorization, district procedures, and applicable law; responding to medical emergencies; implementing applicable student health plans and emergency action plans; maintaining appropriate confidentiality and documentation; communicating with parents/guardians and appropriate school personnel regarding student medical needs; and providing other nursing services within the RN's authorized scope of practice necessary to support the student's safe participation in the school-sponsored activity.The contracted RN will work collaboratively with Boone County Schools nursing personnel, administrators, teachers, and other appropriate staff to ensure that assigned students have appropriate access to school-sponsored activities while their health and safety needs are addressed.Minimum QualificationsApplicants must:Hold a current, valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of West Virginia.Maintain current CPR certification and any other certifications required by applicable law, regulation, or Boone County Schools.Possess the knowledge and ability to respond appropriately to student medical needs and emergencies.Be able to administer medications and treatments within the RN's scope of practice and in accordance with applicable orders and procedures.Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA when applicable, and other state and federal confidentiality requirements.Successfully complete all background checks, screenings, training, and other requirements established by Boone County Schools for contracted personnel working with students.Have reliable transportation and the ability to travel as required by individual assignments.Contract TermsThis is an independent contracted position and does not guarantee a minimum number of hours, trips, or assignments. Services will be requested based upon individual student needs and scheduled school activities. Compensation, travel reimbursement, required documentation, and other contractual terms will be established by Boone County Schools prior to assignment.The contracted RN shall perform only those services authorized by Boone County Schools and permitted under the individual's professional license and applicable to federal and West Virginia law.
