Position Overview
We are seeking a self-motivated Extractions Lab Technician to join our Laboratory Operations team. Under the supervision of a Laboratory Manager, the Extractions Lab Technician is responsible for preparing biological specimens for analysis using confirmation instrument technology.
This position involves handling urine and oral fluid specimens, performing sample preparation and extraction of analytes, and maintaining strict adherence to chain-of-custody documentation and laboratory procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Aliquot urine and/or oral fluid specimens for sample preparation procedures.
Perform sample preparation techniques, including:
Specimen hydrolysis
Solid-phase extraction
Liquid-liquid extraction
Prepare samples for liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS-MS) analysis.
Prepare and restock reagents and buffers as needed.
Assist with maintaining adequate inventory of laboratory supplies.
Troubleshoot issues as necessary and escalate when appropriate.
Maintain accurate records associated with specimen preparation and chain of custody.
Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with education, training, and abilities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field required, including:
Chemistry
Biochemistry
Biology
Microbiology
Biomedical/Pre-Med
Forensics
Toxicology
Laboratory experience preferred.
Strong alpha and numeric data-entry skills.
Strong hand-eye coordination.
Ability to work in a high-volume environment while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy.
