We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Lead for supporting daily operations by ensuring equipment up time and providing clear direction to the maintenance team. Position OverviewThe Maintenance Lead is responsible for executing daily maintenance activities and leading shift-level efforts to keep equipment running safely and efficiently. This role serves as the first point of contact for equipment issues, including after-hours support. The Lead position works closely with both Operations and Maintenance Management to address downtime and maintain production flow. EAM-Mosca runs a 12-hour maintenance team 24/7 and at times will require off-hour communication and decision making.
This is a working lead role, with a strong emphasis on hands-on troubleshooting, team coordination, and immediate response to equipment issues. The ability to work on our CMMS and document completed work for general repairs and safety issues is required.
Key ResponsibilitiesShift Leadership & Coordination- Prioritize and assign daily maintenance work using CMMS based on production needs
- Provide direction and support to maintenance technicians during shift
- Serve as the primary maintenance contact during day-to-day operations
- Ensure clear communication and effective handoffs between shifts
- Partner with Operations to communicate equipment status and priorities
Breakdown Response & Off-Hours Support- Serve as the primary call-in contact for maintenance-related issues outside normal working hours ensuring communication
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and determine appropriate actions (remote or on-site)
- Lead troubleshooting efforts to restore equipment operation as quickly as possible
- Escalate complex or ongoing issues to the Maintenance Manager
Troubleshooting & Repairs- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment
- Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical schematics
- Troubleshoot electrical/control systems including motors, drives, breakers, sensors, and PLCs
- Perform mechanical repairs on conveyors, rollers, gearboxes, and related systems
- Support line startups, shutdowns, and changeovers as needed
Preventive Maintenance Execution- Execute assigned Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks and assign tasks to others using the CMMS
- Identify equipment issues during PMs and communicate findings for follow-up
- Generate follow-up work orders upon completion of PMs ensuring completion of corrective actions
Work Management- Ensure work orders are completed accurately and on time within the CMMS
- Document maintenance activities and communicate the status of open work orders
Parts & Materials- Identify needed parts and communicate shortages or reorder needs
- Identify and request tools required for completion of repairs if not readily available
- Utilize available spare parts effectively to minimize downtime; ensure parts are entered into the CMMS
Safety & Housekeeping- Follow and reinforce all safety procedures and policies; ensure a safe working environment
- Maintain a clean organized shop escalating repairs to equipment as needed
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical certification or 2-year vocational/technical degree preferred
- 3–5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Previous lead or informal leadership experience preferred
Technical Skills- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Working knowledge of PLC systems (troubleshooting required)
- Experience with industrial equipment, drives, and controls
Core Competencies- Strong sense of ownership and urgency in responding to equipment issues
- Ability to lead and coordinate work to completion in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication across shifts and departments using available tools like MS Teams and e-mail
- Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and schedule work with minimal supervision
Physical Requirements- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods (up to 12 hours as needed)
