Job Description:
An extruder technician operates, monitors, and troubleshoots extrusion machines, which shape materials by forcing them through a die to create products with a consistent cross-section. Extrusion is commonly used in plastics, rubber, food processing, and metal manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting up extrusion equipment according to production specifications.
- Monitoring machine performance and adjusting temperatures, pressures, speeds, and material flow.
- Inspecting products to ensure they meet quality standards and measurements.
- Troubleshooting problems such as material defects, machine malfunctions, or production inconsistencies.
- Performing routine maintenance and coordinating repairs when needed.
- Recording production data and following safety and quality procedures.
- Changing dies and tooling for different products or production runs.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical aptitude
- Basic math and measurement skills
- Quality control and inspection
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Ability to work with industrial equipment and follow safety procedures
