Extrusion Press Machine Operator

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Functions essential to attaining job objectives):

• Remove material from saw table(s) and stacked on skids or aging racks.
• Visually inspect material for scratches, dents, deformities or defects.
• Accurately count and record the number of pieces per rack/order.
• Blow saw chips from and separate material to reduce/prevent damage.
• Ability to operate the “dead end stretcher”.
• Ability to assist in “de-twisting” material at the “dead end” stretcher.
• Ability to read and understand “shop papers”.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Marginal tasks performed on this job):

• Perform associated duties of less or equal difficulty
• Keep area neat and clean.
• Must be able to interact with employees in a professional manner at all times.

JOB STANDARDS (Minimum qualifications needed to perform essential job functions):

• Work safe!
• Good hand and eye coordination.
• Count and record, as you fill a rack or skid.
• Able to stand 10-12 hours a day.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS (Needed to perform this job specifically):

• Basic writing skills are required in the completion of daily production records.
• Basic math skills are required in the completion of daily production reports.
• Basic verbal and non-verbal communication skills are required.
• Able to use/read a measuring tape.

JOB LOCATION/ENVIRONMENT/SURROUNDINGS:

Extrusion, High noise level, hot in the summer and cold in the winter, high material temperatures, machines with many moving parts, fast pace work environment, concrete floors.

TESTING (What tests are required to determine skill levels):

Skills are acquired through “on the job” training. No written tests are required to determine skill levels. Skill level is determined by peer/management observation.
