Job Responsibilities
- Monitors extrusion on cooling table and operates stretchers in accordance with specified operating instructions.
- Performs quality check on extruded parts such as badge dimensions, angles, flatness, wall thickness, etc. Understanding of drawing (blueprint) is essential to performing this job.
- Accurately cut extrusions to specified length according to job instructions and stack on cart for transport to next operation.
- Prepares proper documentation, including work orders, travelers, etc.; assuring paperwork are accurately distributed, and the next operator has sufficient data and instructions.
- Maintains appropriate records and documentation including production reports, control plans, and charts.
- Assists in other departments as needed and/or requested, including fabrication, anodizing, and packing departments.
- Forklift training and operation required.
- Operates automatic loader to place billet onto storage table and into billet furnace.
- Ability to differentiate types of alloys and sizes of billets for operation.
- Assists press operator with set up, die changes, and cleanup using appropriate tools and wearing the appropriate PPE.
- Maintains work area, equipment, and supplies in a neat and orderly fashion, 6S standards.
Job Skills Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and route sheets.
- Ability to work effectively with tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, pins, feeler gauges, calculators, and other miscellaneous measuring instruments and small tools.
- Capable of operating both stretchers and assisting operators in all functions as needed.
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to six months related experience and/or training in extrusion procedures; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience Requirements
- Forklift experience is preferred.
- Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment desirable.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to work in a mechanical oriented environment, adhering to safety guidelines and procedures.
- Must be comfortable working near moving mechanical and hot parts.
- Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock.
- Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme heat.
- Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
- Ability to stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
- Physical demand often lifts light weight material. Rarely lifting/moving average weight (25-50lbs/11-27 kgs) material.
