Assistant Professor, Curriculum and Instruction

Job Description

Northeastern State University's College of Education is seeking applicants for Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction on the Tahlequah campus. This position will require the candidate to teach courses as needed by the department in a variety of programs such as elementary education, special education, early childhood education, reading, and/or teacher education. This position is based on the Tahlequah campus, however, travel to other campuses may be required.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Developing and sustaining a research agenda in an area of education, teaching a 12-hour load.

Preparing curriculum that models the use of Oklahoma Academic Standards.

Teaching in multiple delivery modes, which include but are not limited to electronic delivery (i.e., blended, online), face-to-face, and arranged.

Preparing for and conducting class sessions and related activities that are relevant, challenging, and motivating, which are directed at school reform, school improvement, and student-centered learning.

Availability during office hours, enrollment periods for advisement of undergraduate and graduate students.

Serve on College and University committees, participate in scholarly activities, and collaborate with the area schools, community, and region to serve the mission of the College and institution.

Education

Qualified candidates will have earned a doctorate in education from an accredited institution. Candidates who are ABD in their doctorate may be considered (salary/rank commensurate).

Experience

Candidates should have the ability to contribute to and encourage collegiality, professional development, and scholarly activity while balancing the needs of a diverse faculty and student body.

Higher education teaching experience in the field of education is preferred.

Candidates should have at least three (3) years of teaching experience in a P-12 classroom using a variety of research-based teaching strategies.

Current teaching license required.

Candidates should have experience in problem-based learning, teaching with an array of distance learning technologies, and evidence of working collaboratively.

Salary $56,770.00 with excellent benefits

Anticipated start date August 10, 2026
