Description: Service Fire Alarm Technician

TradeSTAR is hiring experienced Fire Alarm Service Technicians for commercial projects throughout the Austin area. These roles focus on troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of complex life safety systems in active commercial environments. We are seeking technicians who can independently diagnose system issues, work with addressable fire alarm systems, and ensure full NFPA and AHJ compliance.

Job Responsibilities
Perform service, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial fire alarm systems including addressable, conventional, and voice evacuation systems
Diagnose system issues such as ground faults, open circuits, short circuits, NAC failures, SLC communication errors, and device conflicts
Service and replace field devices including smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, modules, horn/strobes, duct detectors, and control panels
Perform inspection, testing, and preventative maintenance in accordance with NFPA 72, NEC, and local AHJ requirements
Program and troubleshoot fire alarm control panels using manufacturer software and diagnostic tools
Interpret riser diagrams, wiring schematics, device layouts, and sequence of operations
Perform emergency service calls, preventative maintenance, and scheduled inspections across commercial facilities
Document service work, inspection results, and system changes accurately

Technical Requirements
3+ years of commercial fire alarm service experience with strong troubleshooting ability
Experience with addressable fire alarm systems in commercial environments
Knowledge of SLC loops, NAC circuits, Class A/Class B wiring, and relay logic
Ability to diagnose communication faults and device-level issues independently
Understanding of integrated life safety functions including elevator recall, door release, and suppression system monitoring

Preferred Experience
Notifier, Siemens, EST, Simplex, FireLite, Silent Knight, Bosch, Honeywell, or Gamewell-FCI systems
NICET certification and Texas Fire Alarm License are highly preferred
