Summary:
The position of FAB Tech is a customer service role that supports and assists Maryville University Design & Visual Art (DVA) students and faculty with their creative projects. To do this, FAB Techs must know how to safely operate and maintain equipment in the FAB Center at Maryville University, such as Large Format Printers, 3D Printers, Laser Cutting Machine, and more.
Job Responsibilities:
Customer Service
FAB Techs complete daily print requests for student projects and assist with other projects using a variety of equipment. Communication with students and faculty is often required to successfully complete print requests and understand project requirements. FAB Techs must be able to work closely with students to understand their needs and assist with projects.
Safe and Clean Work Environment
A clean work environment is a safe one. The FAB Center is a hub of activity and creativity so it's important that FAB Techs are proactive in keeping the workspace tidy and safe. FAB Techs are assigned daily cleaning tasks in the FAB Center and other DVA studios.
Learning and Teaching
FAB Techs are required to learn the safe and proper use of FAB Center equipment. It's important to be knowledgeable so that you may assist DVA students with their creative projects. Experienced FAB Techs are expected to train new FAB Techs on proper print setup and the safe and proper use of other equipment. FAB Techs will choose their own creative projects to learn the equipment.
DVA General Duties
When not handling print requests and other customer service duties, FAB Techs will often be assigned various tasks to assist DVA Management and Faculty as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be friendly, organized, proactive, creative, and able to work independently.
Willing and able to learn the safe and proper use of FAB Center equipment and software, such as 3D printers, laser cutter, CNC router, vinyl cutter, and more.
Prior print shop or maker space experience is not required
Basic computer proficiency required. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite preferred, not required.
Skills Required:
Able to work closely with students to understand their needs and assist with projects.
Must be able to adapt to varying workload demands.
Physical Demands:
Position Pay: $15/hr
Hours per week: 10 hrs
