    Reports to: Fabrication Foreman/Lead Hand

    ROLE OVERVIEW

     

    With welders in mind as their “customer”, this role is responsible for providing quality cut orders for welders to piece together products.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Receive orders from Shop Supervisor or Cutting Lead

    • Read and understand both order (blueprints, sketches or product specifications) and drawings before cutting; conduct weld preparation if necessary.

    • Obtains and transfers stock to machine, manually

    • Measures and marks dimensions and reference lines on material extrusions.

    • Drill holes in metal for screws, bolts and rivets

    • Sets up and operates fabrication, cutting machines, ensuring breaks, rolls, shears, flame cutter and drill presses are in working order.

    • Cut and prepare product according to order.

    • Inform Lead Hand of errors; with approval form Lead, see Order Entry to confirm error (who will change order if applicable)

    • Keep material organized and proper identification of stock

    • Wear appropriate safety gear at all times (e.g. safety glasses, mask, earplugs, steel-toe footwear, etc.)

    • Maintains a safe and clean work space without risk to health.

    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related or delegated duties as needed.

     

    • Responsible for safeguarding all company confidential information obtained in connection with employment whether oral, written or electronic which shall include all information which has been specifically designated as confidential by the employer in a manner which ensures confidentiality as outlined in Railcraft USA.     • Adhere to all company policies and procedures and business code of ethics.

    • Responsible to follow established Occupational Health and Safety procedures and policies

     

    KEY ACCOUNTABILTIES/KPI’S

     

    Accuracy of measurement on all work to 1/6” of an inch or .05 Degrees.

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE

     

    • Ability to stand for most of the day

    • Ability to lift/move approximately 50 pounds

    • Ability to read orders/drawings and standard and metric tape measure

    • Ability to operate machines and equipment safely

    • Basic math comprehension

    • Must be able to work independently as well as a part of a team

    • Experience in manufacturing or construction.

    • Reliable and punctual to work every day

    • Willingness to work overtime on short notice and as required.

    • Willingness and ability to learn machines and equipment and operate them safely.

    • Willingness to use protective clothing and equipment at all times

    • Attention to detail and pride in workmanship

    • Follow instructions and work with minimal supervision

    • Must be able to work in a fast paced, repetitive environment.

    • Ability to communicate and work well with others

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE

     

    • 2 – 3 years’ fabrication shop experience

    • Familiarity with shop practices

    • Experience with hand tools and stationary tools such as grinders, band saws, belt sanders, drill press, chop saws, etc. etc.

    • Basic English but excellent interpersonal skills

    • Understanding of all products

    • Previous installation and/or construction experience
