Fabrication Inspector


Primary Function:

The Fabrication Inspector will be responsible for teaching new hires company welding processes and assisting them with the initial qualification testing.  This position will work closely with the Quality Manager on maintaining the continuity requirements for ASME Code.  The inspector will also work with the Quality Manager with respect to Quality Alerts and retraining requirements to ensure that all welders are completing the required tasks to the highest quality possible.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate employee records on testing and qualifications.
  • Conduct fitment and layout verifications as required for flow sheet sign off per ASME.
  • Evaluate each employee’s progress and provide feedback to help them improve their skills.
  • Select and requisition appropriate supplies and equipment needed for continuous improvement training for employees.
  • Attend applicable meetings and professional development workshops as required.
  • Serve on committees and participate in other activities that contribute to the efficient operation of the manufacturing facility.
  • Participate in the development and revision of Procedure Qualification Records & Welding Procedure Specifications
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment in the facility.
  • Model proper safety procedures and techniques for employees
  • Keep abreast of new developments in the welding field by reading trade publications and attending conferences and seminars.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Welding certification from an accredited institution
  • 7 - 10+ years’ welding experience
  • Strong dedication to accuracy and safety
  • Excellent communication, customer service mindset, and time-management skills
  • Experience teaching welding at the high school or post-secondary level preferred
  • Curriculum development and AWS/ASME Welding Requirements skills preferred
