Position Summary

The Fabrication Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all fabrication operations, including laser cutting, forming, welding, material flow, staffing, scheduling, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role ensures production goals are achieved safely, efficiently, and in alignment with customer quality expectations.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience in a heavy manufacturing or metal fabrication environment and a proven ability to drive operational excellence in a fast-paced production setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily fabrication operations including laser cutting, press brake forming, welding, and related fabrication processes.
  • Supervise fabrication supervisors, leads, and production employees across multiple shifts.
  • Develop production schedules and coordinate workflow to meet delivery deadlines and customer requirements.
  • Monitor productivity, labor utilization, scrap, rework, and overall operational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
  • Partner with engineering, quality, machining, powder coating, and assembly departments to support seamless production flow.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Maintain high standards for workmanship and adherence to customer specifications.
  • Assist with hiring, training, performance management, and employee development.
  • Support implementation of lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives.
  • Evaluate equipment needs and coordinate preventative maintenance activities.
  • Participate in customer meetings, audits, and production planning discussions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field preferred.

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in metal fabrication or manufacturing operations.

  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes including:- Laser cutting

    • Press brake operations
    • MIG/TIG welding
    • Blueprint reading
    • Material handling
  • Experience managing production schedules and manufacturing KPIs.

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in OEM or contract manufacturing environments.
  • AWS welding knowledge or fabrication certifications.
  • Experience leading multi-shift operations.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk manufacturing floors regularly.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, welding fumes, and moving equipment.
