Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking Fabricators and Welders of all experience levels, from Junior Fabricators to Master Fabricators, for a growing manufacturing facility in Oklahoma City. This position involves fabricating, fitting, assembling, and welding custom components and assemblies while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and craftsmanship.

Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 1 year of welding and/or fabrication experience preferred (advanced opportunities available for experienced candidates)
Experience with MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), Stick (SMAW), and/or Flux Core (FCAW) welding processes
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, travelers, and work instructions
Basic fitting and fabrication experience preferred
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Leadership and mentoring experience preferred for senior-level candidates
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic required
AWS Certifications are not required
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, travelers, and work instructions
Perform measuring, layout, cutting, grinding, fitting, and fabrication operations
Fabricate and assemble structural components, skids, and custom projects according to specifications
Perform MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux Core welding as assigned and qualified
Work with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and sheet metal materials
Safely operate fabrication equipment including beam cutting machines, laser cutting equipment, and other shop tools
Conduct in-process inspections to verify dimensional accuracy and weld quality
Protect raw materials and finished products from damage and contamination
Maintain clean, organized work areas while following 5S housekeeping standards
Troubleshoot fit-up and fabrication issues as experience allows
Support employee training, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives
Weld Test Requirements
All candidates must successfully complete an in-house fabrication weld test, which includes:
Reading and interpreting a fabrication drawing
Fitting two pieces of metal according to the provided drawing
Completing all required welds on the fabricated project
Final evaluation based on weld quality, dimensional accuracy, fit-up, and squareness
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in custom fabrication or heavy industrial manufacturing
Strong fitting and layout skills
Experience operating advanced fabrication equipment
Leadership experience for senior or master-level fabrication positions
Knowledge of fabrication quality standards and welding best practices
Physical Requirements
Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs
Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and repetitive physical activity throughout the shift
Ability to safely work around cranes, forklifts, welding equipment, and moving materials
Comfortable working in environments with heat, sparks, dust, fumes, and industrial machinery
Must wear all required PPE at all times
