Genesis Staffing is seeking a dependable, hands-on Fabrication Shop Helper for an established industrial fabrication shop in the Mobile County area.
This is not a general labor position. We are looking for someone who already understands how to work safely and productively in a fabrication or industrial shop environment. The right person will be comfortable supporting fitters, welders, and shop operations while staying busy, using good judgment, and taking pride in doing things the right way.
What You'll Do
- Assist with daily fabrication-shop operations and material movement.
- Safely operate a forklift to move steel, parts, tools, and fabricated materials throughout the shop.
- Safely operate or assist with overhead-crane material handling.
- Use grinders and other common hand and power tools to prep, clean, finish, and move materials.
- Help keep work areas organized, safe, and production-ready.
- Support fitters, welders, and supervisors with shop tasks as needed.
- Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and directions from shop leadership.
- Stay productive throughout the shift and take initiative when work needs to be done.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a fabrication shop, steel shop, industrial shop, shipyard, or similar hands-on production environment.
- Proven ability to safely operate a forklift.
- Previous experience safely operating overhead cranes (required)
- Comfortable using grinders and common shop tools.
- Able to work around steel, heavy materials, welding operations, and active fabrication equipment.
- Dependable attendance, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.
- Safety-conscious with a good attitude and the ability to work well as part of a shop team.
- Must be able to stay on task, follow directions, and remain productive without needing constant supervision.
