    Fabrication Shop Quality Control Inspector


    Data Center Project – Stainless Steel Process Piping

    Location: Long Beach / Compton, California

    Duration: Approximately 6–8 months

    Schedule: Initially 5 days per week, 10 hours per day; expected to increase to 6 days per week, 10 hours per day

    Start Date: Within two weeks; Labor Day at the latest

    Position Summary

    PRC is seeking an experienced Fabrication Shop Quality Control Inspector to support a major data center fabrication project in the Long Beach/Compton area. The project involves extensive fabrication of stainless steel piping systems within a high-volume shop environment.

    The ideal candidate will have direct experience inspecting orbital welding and stainless steel piping fabrication. Candidates whose experience is primarily within refinery environments are not preferred for this assignment, unless there is expertise in orbital welding.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform quality control inspections throughout the fabrication process.
    • Inspect stainless steel piping, fittings, welds, and fabricated assemblies.
    • Monitor orbital welding and TIG welding activities.
    • Verify welding procedures, welder qualifications, and applicable project specifications.
    • Inspect Victaulic systems, pull tees, and associated piping components.
    • Confirm proper stainless steel handling, cleaning, and passivation procedures.
    • Review fit-up, weld quality, dimensions, materials, and fabrication tolerances.
    • Identify and document nonconforming work.
    • Coordinate corrective actions with fabrication supervisors and welding personnel.
    • Maintain accurate inspection reports, weld documentation, and quality records.
    • Support turnover documentation and final acceptance of completed fabrication.
    • Ensure all work complies with project quality requirements and applicable codes and standards.

    Qualifications

    • Previous quality control inspection experience within a piping fabrication shop.
    • Strong experience with orbital welding is highly preferred and may be required.
    • Experience inspecting stainless steel piping and passivation activities.
    • Knowledge of TIG welding, Victaulic systems, pull tees, and fabricated piping assemblies.
    • Ability to read piping drawings, isometrics, weld maps, and fabrication documentation.
    • Familiarity with welding procedures, inspection requirements, and quality documentation.
    • AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification is preferred.
    • Candidates without a current CWI certification may be considered when they possess extensive orbital welding and fabrication inspection experience.
    • Ability to work a schedule that may increase to six 10-hour shifts per week.
    • Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.


    Assignment Details

    The anticipated assignment duration is six to eight months, with the possibility of additional hours and shift coverage as production increases.

    Compensation: Approximately $70 per hour, depending on experience

    Per Diem: May be available for qualified travelers
