Fabrication & Stamping Operations Head (P&L Owner)

Your challenge: Elevate two Phoenix Stamping Group plants by tightening safety, sharpening quality, accelerating delivery, and optimizing costs—while developing people and systems that scale.

Reporting line: Vice President of Manufacturing

90/180-day impact roadmap

  • Days 0–30: Baseline OEE/OTD/COPQ, verify ERP routings, review staffing vs. demand, and assess 6S/visual factory maturity.
  • Days 31–90: Rebuild production schedules to align with inventory targets, tighten cycle counts, and launch a focused QEK wave on top OEE losses.
  • Days 91–180: Commission planned equipment and layout changes with contractors, lock in standard work and control plans, and embed a recurring root-cause cadence.

Scope of ownership

  • Direct Production, Maintenance, Tooling, and Material Handling across both sites.
  • Lead the safety program: committee engagement, root cause and corrective action, and statutory training.
  • Build and monitor ERP-driven schedules that track to demand and inventory goals.
  • Drive OEE to improve OTD and plant output while managing variable labor and operating expenses on the P&L.
  • Oversee shipping/receiving, inventory management (including cycle counts), and maintenance of material handling equipment.
  • Coordinate equipment installations and facility layout initiatives; manage on-site and contractor resources to timeline.
  • Audit and enforce standard work and process control plans; reduce defects and COPQ.
  • Review quality metrics with plant leaders; implement effective corrective actions.
  • Evaluate and adjust staffing levels; develop Supervisors, Leads, and hourly team members.
  • Design operator upskilling programs with subject-matter experts.
  • Advance Lean, 6S, visual factory, and Quick and Easy Kaizen (QEK).
  • Stay fluent in modern operations methods and translate them into everyday practice.
  • Collaborate across functions to support change; communicate timelines and deliverables.
  • Uphold requirements for quality management, health & safety, environmental policy, legal compliance, and company ethics.
