Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of the fabrication shop, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity goals are met.

  • Lead and coordinate the work of welders, fitters, and other fabrication personnel.

  • Review blueprints, specifications, and job orders to determine work assignments and material requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with company, client, and regulatory safety standards (OSHA, API, ASME).

  • Monitor production schedules and make adjustments to meet deadlines.

  • Train, mentor, and evaluate employees to build a skilled and motivated workforce.

  • Collaborate with Quality Control and Engineering teams to address nonconformance issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Maintain accurate production and performance records, including shift reports and labor tracking.

  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Assist with workforce planning, hiring recommendations, and disciplinary actions when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of supervisory experience in fabrication, pipe mill, or heavy manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, including fitting, welding (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW), cutting, and finishing.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and technical drawings.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven track record of enforcing safety and quality standards.

  • Familiarity with API/ASME codes and fabrication tolerances preferred.

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree a plus.

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced industrial setting in a heavy fabrication shop.

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and supervise on the shop floor for extended periods.

  • PPE required (hard hat, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, etc.).
